Today, I returned to San Francisco for a THIRD visit with a wonderful pair of guests. Professionally, the married duo of ANDREW STERN and LAURA ARIAS calls themselves 3 PAIRS OF BOOTS, and their fourth studio album BOOT SCOOTIN' is all set for a September 2024 release. And, once again, I am digging the sound of their new songs. Get set set to hear some tracks and also two live acoustic performances, complete with Laura's beautiful vocals! We talked about how the two met and formed a romantic musical partnership, the process of their songwriting, and finally some inspiring words to send you on your way! Enjoy, everybody!

After releasing their 2019 debut album Gone South, Arias and Stern developed YouTube series Cook’N’& Country, pairing cooking with live country music. They released sophomore 3 Pairs of Boots album Long Rider in January 2021, a bluesy collection named after “Lady Long Rider” Bernice Ende. During the 2021 quarantine, Arias and Stern produced three outstanding Livestream shows from their home studio. They also wrote, recorded, and produced Mighty Love, their third full-length album which released in the fall of 2022.
Mighty Love introduced fresh instrumentation (keys, organ, horns, string quartet, banjo, Rhodes piano) in addition to acoustic and electric guitar, revealing the duo’s expanded palette, elevated songwriting, and next-level production. The lyrics range from personal reflection to historical figures and events, with a buoyant warmth threaded throughout each track. Written and produced primarily by Stern, Mighty Love features contributions from poet Wren Winfield, drummer Randy Cooke (Ringo Starr), and Nashville keys player Dave Cohen.
During September of 2024, the duo released their 4th studio album in 5 years. Boot Scootin’ leans into the band’s country roots. Be on the lookout for singles coming this summer!
